5G for Broadcast TV

5G, the fifth generation of mobile network technology, has the potential to revolutionise mobile TV broadcasting by offering faster speeds, lower latency, and improved reliability compared to previous generations like 4G.

Mobile TV broadcasting involves delivering television content over mobile networks, enabling broadcasters to transmit live TV footage during significant public events, as seen at the Paris Olympics and the Coronation of King Charles in the UK. With the introduction of 5G, these services can become more efficient, scalable, and capable of delivering a higher-quality viewing experience.

At the FYUZ event in Dublin in November 2024, Benetel collaborated with Druid, SRS, and NemetonTV to showcase broadcast TV services streaming over a Private 5G Network within the main hall. For this demonstration, Benetel worked closely with SRS to ensure that a high-bandwidth uplink channel provided optimal throughput and minimal latency for the live broadcast TV stream.
